The Utah State University Sustainability Council was formed and first convened in early 2007, upon the signing of the President's Climate Commitment by USU President Stan Albrecht. It is a campus-wide collaboration driven by faculty, staff, and students. The primary goal, as outlined in the Presidents Climate Commitment, is to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. However, the Council seeks to infuse sustainability throughout curriculum, research, operations, and planning at the university, and it is also a contributing member of the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE).
